I have not written a story … yet. Lookout I may be providing some inspiration on the blog and hopefully coming up with a story … can you write a story in 6 words for the prompt?

The challenge was originally created and hosted for several years by Nicola over at Sometimes Stellar Storyteller. Myself and Kirstywrites now take in turns to host.

It is a fun, informal challenge. Great for interacting with other micro fiction writers.

How it works:

Each Saturday at 9am (GMT) *on one of our two blogs we publish prompt for you to use to create a six word story.

The challenge closes to entries at 9pm the following Thursday evening (GMT).

A poll will subsequently be posted containing all stories submitted to the challenge. Voting will remain open in this poll for 24hrs and will close at 9pm on Friday evening (GMT). The host has casting vote.

The host publishes a post highlighting top three stories of the week.

Sharing

We often repost each other’s posts and possibly share prompts and stories on other social media to promote the challenge and the fantastic stories it generates. We use the hashtags 6wordstory or 6wordstorychallenge. Feel free to share our posts about the challenge and your story, but equally this is not mandatory.

What colour are your phone boxes? (6 word story challenge open until Thursday 31st January

For most of the England the traditional colour is red like post boxes. An exception is Hull which has cream phone boxes as they have own telephone company separate from rest of England.

Of course telephone boxes are becoming less and less use, now most people use mobiles. Old phone boxes have been put to alternative uses, such as mini libraries and tourist information. Preserving their history; just think of the calls that may have been made from of two them in the past; calls to midwives, calls between criminals … Can you imagine a 6 word story for prompt phone box; if so enter the challenge here:

Yesterday was Burns night. A big night for the Scottish celebrating the poet Robert Burns. I lived in Edinburgh for the majority of August 2017. I noticed there was a lot old of police boxes. Such as described in the following link and shown in the picture.

Police box may be too hard a prompt therefore for your prompt you can have either POLICE BOX perhapas like in Dr Who?) or PHONE BOX

100years since day WW1 ended.

This year 11th of November the date 100years ago in 1918 that World War One ended, falls on a Sunday; therefore today is Remembrance Sunday. Like last year there will be 2 minute silences around the country. I’m wearing British legion poppy earrings.

This week on Wonderwall360 instragram, I having been posting images of the poppy cascade and other poppy displays in Keswick.

For this week’s #6wordstory challenge for prompt darkness, I have written a story about the world wars. The world wars were times of blood shred, tragedy and therefore darkness. Theoretically, the darkness of WW1, ended 100years ago today, bringing hope: However, those who had died during the war; were still dead and therefore families still mourned. WW1 was meant to be the war to end all wars but, of course it was not.

Darkness:

1918:

Dawn.

Mourning.

History.

Repeated:

1939.

#SixWordStoryChallenge: 10th November

Last Saturday I walked in the dark from a bonfire at a pub about 4miles outside Sheffield, back into Sheffield. We had headtorches, but turned them off to  take a photo with the cities lights in background so we we stood in darkness.

Following on from Kirsty’s prompt History, a prompt based upon a historical event that occurred 413years ago this month but, is remembered in the UK each November 5th: The attempt to blow up parliament when the King was due to attend therefore termed Treason.

The prompt is TREASON however feel free to think of it as betrayal if that makes it easier.
