Stan the Stable Boy
By Matt Black (https://www.matt-black.co.uk)
Stan looks after the horses.
They say Stan could ride before he could walk
;a gypsy, clever, quiet and shy,
and a good whistler.
Stan waved goodbyeto his father
who went to war.
His dad was a blacksmith who just turned the corner
and disappeared.
Stan tries to smile, to hide his tears,
but he’s lonely as rain.
Stan hardly gets any sleep.
