My love of Sewing Bee ๐Ÿงต ๐Ÿ and last week’s upcycling programme

I think I have watched every series of this . I started watching when I accidently stumbled upon it on BBC 2, when it was presented by Claudia Winkleman. it is now presented by comedian Joe Lycett and is on prime time BBC 1 at 9pm on a Wednesday night. It is a competion show similar to Bake off. With a competiotor being eliminated each week until the finalise when a new winner crowned.

Each programme always has three tasks:

  1. Make a garment per a pattern
  2. Innovation i.e use old fabric / clthese to make something new
  3. The made to measure – a spectacular outfit fitted to a live model.

For example, Last Wednesday when the theme was upcycling. The first task was to use a pattern to make waist coats from cutting up clothes. Then for the innovation challenge they were given army surplus clothes to make a garment. Last weeks last challenge was to use old denim to make a dress. The winner of this was really inspiring it was a dress made with lots of denim cut into waves to raise awareness of environmental impact of the amount of water needed to make new denim therefore why denim should be reused. It also featured a whale and was a very stylish shape.

What will tonight bring?

Does anyone else watch? I have a friend who does so we enjoy comparing notes!
