Victober: Queen Victoria influence on Royal wedding 👰 🎩 days

Today it is a year since Princess Eugenie married. Like the majority of brides today she married in white. Prior to Queen Victoria the tradition was to marry in yellow or blue.

Eugenie’s bouquet included a sprig of Myrtle a tradition from Queen Victoria. It also included forget-me-nots, sweet peas, lily of the valley, astilbe, jasmine and astrantia.

Last month it was announced Eugenie’s older sister Beatrice will marry. The wedding is likely to be in spring. Like Eugenie her name was originally chosen by Queen Victoria for her fifth child. Apparently Beatrice’s parents originally wanted Annabel but her Grandmother the Queen said no. Her Grandmother will approve of her middle name Elizabeth. Her second middle name is Mary after another Queen.

Queen Victoria is likely to influence Beatrice’s wedding in similar ways to Eugenie’s.
