In the next couple of weeks there are lots of events in Sheffield to mark international Women’s day on Thursday 8th Mar2018. I have found all the following, just with a quick google search.
There is a festival called Shefestival with lots of events. Saturday of 10th march there is a packed schedule of events in Sheffield city centre. Then Sunday 11th it is Mother’s day.
For those concerned about discrimination against men, just to note that International men’s date does exist ; it is monday 19th November 2018.

The 8th March is International Women’s Day 2018, a day to celebrate the achievements of women, commemorate the women’s rights movement, and to encourage further positive change. Sheffield is hosting all kinds of fun events to mark the occasion – here are a few well worth checking out!
Fruit n Juice International Women’s Day Party @ The Harley – Thursday 8th March
This Garden of Eden themed party promises “immersive decor, a fabulous lineup of women DJs, drag performances and more” in a safe, inclusive environment. The University of Sheffield Feminist Society (FemSoc) will also be holding a social to the event.

International Women’s Day Celebration @ The Audacious Art Experiment
Saturday 10th March
With proceeds going to the Young Women’s Housing Project, this BYOB event at the quirky Audacious Art Experiment features a host of Northern female-fronted talent. Head down to see Beth Robinson, founding member of Sheffield folk group Jupiter in Jars, Mayshe-Mayshe, creator of “dreamlike electronic pop”, noise-pop punk band Duck and the highly acclaimed post-punk trio LIINES. A donation of £5 is suggested on entry.

Bungalows International Women’s Day Party @ Bungalows and Bears – Thursday 8th March
Bungalows and Bears will be hosting “indie glitter” band The Seamonsters, who have recently played with The Orielles and Kate Nash. Supporting are female-fronted local band Heavy Lids with their shoegazey dream pop sound. There’ll also be stalls from local creatives such as GIRL GANG Sheffield, and DJ Tino will provide R&B anthems till late. And to top it all off, it’s free entry too!

Women of the Seven Hills @ Yellow Arch Studios -Thursday 8th March
The iconic Yellow Arch Studios will be hosting a night to showcase female talent in Sheffield, with a fantastic lineup including Before Breakfast, launching their new EP, Julia Waldron, From a Window, Emily Jane Stancer and more.
Hope Works X No Bounds – Helena Hauff, Errorsmith, Peder Mannerfelt – Friday 9th March
Although not officially an International Women’s Day event, it’s set to be a night of serious talent. Headlining is Helena Hauff, Crack Magazine’s Most Exciting DJ of 2017. Her “distinct flair for analogue pad driven synths, layered with moody rugged basslines and a dash of 808 hi hats for good measure, leave both techno and EBM crowds dancing till the early morning.” Joining her are Errorsmith, Peder Mannerfelt, Lo Shea, Shyboi and more.
SheFest – 5th-11th March
SheFest will be holding events all around the city for the week surrounding International Womens’ Day, including a huge variety of talks, collaborations and screenings. There’s a women’s history walking tour, a Black Glamour art exhibition, and even an introduction to website building with Squarespace amongst a myriad of other female-focused cultural events.

Hidden Figures @ Film Unit, University of Sheffield Students’ Union – Wednesday 7th March
Hosted by Sheffield Central MP Paul Blomfield, this free screening of Hidden Figures, raising money for the Together Women Project (TWP), and Women in Construction and Technology (WiCAT). Before the film will contributions from Blomfield, Celeste Jones (Sheffield SU Women’s Officer 2017-18) and Pat Pepper from Unite the Union.

Ladies, Wine Design was started by Jessica Walsh after writing this article as an initiative to foster female creativity. Only a tiny percent of creative directors are women, and LW&D wants to help change this through mentorship circles, portfolio reviews, and creative meet-ups. In less than a year of launching, LWD has spread to chapters in over 120 cities all over the world.
