Each week a prompt is published for 6 word stories. This week the prompt was REALITY
My 6 word story was ‘Lost baggage. Missed train. Freezing. Home’
The 6 word story about social media obsession, has hit a chord because I have just missed my tram stop because, I was looking at my phone screen. Sat at tram terminus, cold, waiting for it to turn back …REALITY
It is about how you escape on holiday away from the stresses of everyday life. When you arrive back at a UK airport, all tanned and happy, reality soon hits! The large passport control queue, the missing baggage then you miss train you planned to catch. It is freezing and you are wearing sandals and no coat; you have no other clothes to put on because your suitcase is God knows where ….REALITY
The REALITY for some tonight in Sheffield is that as I saw, coming out of the theatre, that they will be spending the night on the snow laden streets in freezing conditions. Last lent I wrote daily prompts about homelessness. Tonight I have seen a play about food banks (review to follow tomorrow).
